Guestbook...

Opinions, please!!! I am still torn about what to do for a guestbook. I have been tossing around several ideas and would love to hear what you think. These are the three:

1. Traditional guestbook where guest signs name
2. Photobook made using pictures from our church and venue (and maybe one or two of me and the honey thrown in, probably black and white pics) where guests can write a note anywhere
3. Coffee table book of either the town where we are getting married (if there is one in existence) or of where we are honeymooning (likely Greece)

Help! I can't decide. Options 1 and 3 are definitely less time consuming than putting together a photobook, but I have heard great review of Blurb and think it is probably easy to use...

I had never even thought about using a book about where you are honeymooning! What a cool idea!! I think they are all great options... and I would go with what sounds easiest! :)

I like the idea of the photobook and letting people sign that. If you have the time...go take some photos of places that have meaning to you and your fiance...maybe put a caption under the photos too. You can do it w/ Snapfish or Shutterfly...or just get simple...print the photos in a memory book and let people sign that. I wish I would have thought about that for our wedding...cute idea!
Good luck!

I have always thought that a scrapbook type thing is interesting (If you like scrapbooking).
Have your guests take a 8 x 10 page (or give them out) and draw a picture, write a poem, short story or anecdote; or maybe a picture of you when you were younger or whatever they want to do. Have them put it together before hand to be put into sheet protectors in a scrapbook binder.
Other than that I love the idea of using a book of your honeymoon!
Something a bit untraditional

i'm having basically the same guestbook dilemma. I would actually rather just not have one at all, but my mom is insisting!

my thoughts are i like both the blurb (or other photo) type book, either with pics of you and your fiance or around your church/venue or places of meaning to you. I also really like the idea of the coffee table book of your hometown or honeymoon destination! Definitely something that you will look at again and be able to enjoy! We're leaning towards a coffee table book of our hometown as well! Good luck!!

Just wanted to second that we used a Blurb book and it's fantastic! We still keep ours out and people flip through it when they come over. :)

I hadn't even thought of that yet! Ahhh! I love all three ideas, but I think I'm going to do a classic one. I wouldn't have a clue how to make a photobook. You're very creative to think of the second two options!

i happened across your organizing blog... nice work!
anyway, at my wedding, my family from sweden brought a "Swedish" guest book to sign (which few people actually signed), however i have ANY guest that stays w/us sign it as a memory of their visit.
also, i had people sign a skimboard (smaller than a surfboard) that hubby and i used a few times. i cleaned it off and we'll hang it on the hang (in a rec room/finished basement/something of the life). it's neat b/c it can be hung on a wall, is a little sporty, different and almost EVERYONE signed it!!
just to get your mind thinking... ;) cheers.

I bought a pre-made wedding scrap book from Hallmark and had people fill in messages in parts of the areas and saved the other areas for pictures.

I would suggest #2 or #3- seriously how often would you look at #1. We had a book that we intended people to add messages too, however the person attending the book just had people sign their name. And we never look at it.

I like 2 or 3 but please go to Greece! It is insane!

I like the framed photo where people can sign around it for you to hang on your wall. I never open my guest book. Kind of a waste.

Love your blog and so happy that you decided to add a little Garnish to your wedding day! Just wanted to add my two cents on the guest book thing. When I got married, Blurb wasn't around (11 years on the 4th of July). We put stacks of 4x6 note cards and pens on the tables and asked everyone to write a little note at some point during the reception. We then compiled them all in a book and it turned out great. Ended up being a great conversation starter (hey...what are you writing?), let people's creative talent shine through (some great doodles) and some folks commented on things happening that night (he's dancing like a mad man, speech brought tear to my eye, etc.). We still flip through the book on occasion for some great memories

So anyway, just wanted to share. Love all your ideas. Thanks again for thinking of, and choosing, Garnish!
